92. Dear Luam and everyone who reads this, Greetings in the name of Christ Jesus. Thank you for sharing God's Word that I needed to hear today. Thank you for taking the time to share it with me and others. Thank you for allowing me to share what God is allowing me to write to those who are dealing with life recovery issues and significant life changing experiences. I have written commentary within your text.
As long as we are looking at this verse, let's consider a few others (in NLT): 6 When I was prosperous I said, "Nothing can stop me now!" 7 Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered. 8 I cried out to you, O LORD. I begged the Lord for mercy, saying, 9 "What will you gain if I die, if I sink down into the grave? Can my dust praise you from the grave? Can it tell the world of your faithfulness? 10 Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Help me, O LORD." 11 You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, 12 that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever! As God is touching my heart as I read this, I have been constantly asking for helpers to take the burdens off of me, but now I know He has been my helper all along and kept the tasks from being too burdensom for me. He has been gracious and full of mercy to me as I do His will. What a gift I have to be able to serve others and to know He has been helping me all along the way. The great things the Lord has done for us, both by his providence and by his grace, bind us in gratitude to do all we can to advance his kingdom among men, though the most we can do is but little. God's saints in heaven sing to him; why should not we on earth do the same? Not one of all God's perfections carries in it more terror to the wicked, or more comfort to the godly, than his holiness. It is a good sign that we are in some measure partakers of his holiness, if we can heartily rejoice at the remembrance of it. Our happiness is bound up in the Divine favour; if we have that, we have enough, whatever else we want; but as long as God's anger continues, so long the saints' weeping continues. - This is a prayer that you can start the day with. 10A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. 11Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. 12For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. 13Use every piece of God's armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God's righteousness. 15For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared. 16In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. 17Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. While we may be firmly grounded in sound doctrine and accept our responsibility to live a godly life, we must be aware of the fierce, invisible warfare Satan wages against us. Many of our struggles with addiction could be the result of direct attacks by spiritual enemies. Since we continue to struggle with a dependency that once rendered us powerless, we need to admit our inability to manage our life. Then as we turn our life and will over to God, He will stand with us in the battle. Notice that each piece of spiritual armor (except the sword) is defensive in nature. As recovering addicts, we need to improve our conscious contact with God, to know Him better, and to surround ourselves with truth, righteousness, faith, and prayer. These will protect us against the assault of hostile spiritual forces. The forces arrayed against us are powerful, but the weapons God gives us are adequate for our defense. Part of that armor - the shoes - enables us to share the Good News of God's delivering power with others, giving hope to them while strengthening our own recovery. Of servants and masters.The duty of servants is summed up in one word, obedience. The servants of old were generally slaves. The apostles were to teach servants and masters their duties, in doing which evils would be lessened, till slavery should be rooted out by the influence of Christianity. Servants are to reverence those over them. They are to be sincere; not pretending obedience when they mean to disobey, but serving faithfully. And they must serve their masters not only when their master's eye is upon them; but must be strict in the discharge of their duty, when he is absent and out of the way. Steady regard to the Lord Jesus Christ will make men faithful and sincere in every station, not grudgingly or by constraint, but from a principle of love to the masters and their concerns. This makes service easy to them, pleasing to their masters, and acceptable to the Lord Christ. God will reward even the meanest drudgery done from a sense of duty, and with a view to glorify him. Here is the duty of masters. Act after the same manner. Be just to servants, as you expect they should be to you; show the like good-will and concern for them, and be careful herein to approve yourselves to God. Be not tyrannical and overbearing. You have a Master to obey, and you and they are but fellow-servants in respect to Christ Jesus. If masters and servants would consider their duties to God, and the account they must shortly give to him, they would be more mindful of their duty to each other, and thus families would be more orderly and happy.
A prayer vigil prior to the end of the month may be an innovative opportunity for those within your sphere of influence to pray. This is a political battle that needs spiritual intervention. A powerful story about God's intervention in the lives of David's mighty men is recorded in 2 Samuel 23:8-33. 2 Samuel 23:8-33David's Mighty Men8 These are the names of David's mighty men: Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter. 9 Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered at Pas Dammim for battle. Then the men of Israel retreated, 10 but he stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead. 11 Next to him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines banded together at a place where there was a field full of lentils, Israel's troops fled from them. 12 But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the LORD brought about a great victory. 13 During harvest time, three of the thirty chief men came down to David at the cave of Adullam, while a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim. 14 At that time David was in the stronghold, and the Philistine garrison was at Bethlehem. 15 David longed for water and said, "Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!" 16 So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the LORD . 17 "Far be it from me, O LORD , to do this!" he said. "Is it not the blood of men who went at the risk of their lives?" And David would not drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men. 18 Abishai the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the Three. He raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed, and so he became as famous as the Three. 19 Was he not held in greater honor than the Three? He became their commander, even though he was not included among them. 20 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, who performed great exploits. He struck down two of Moab's best men. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion. 21 And he struck down a huge Egyptian. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club. He snatched the spear from the Egyptian's hand and killed him with his own spear. 22 Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada; he too was as famous as the three mighty men. 23 He was held in greater honor than any of the Thirty, but he was not included among the Three. And David put him in charge of his bodyguard.
David and his warriors were victorious because of God's intervention. We want to overcome those who would stand in the way of freedom. David's mighty men triumphed over incredible odds and stood their ground and were victorious over the enemies of Israel. The Christian's true identity is no longer that of a sinner but that of a holy saint. We are no longer a slave, but a chosen priest of the King. We have been called out of the darkness of our dependency to receive God's healing love so we can share it with others who are hurting. While everyone's life story is unique, there are longings of the heart that seem to be universal: the desire to find true love, the desire that someone will affirm our inherent value regardless of our situation, the hope that we can change. In this regard, we each need a Cinderella story of our own. God finds each of us in the cinders of a less than perfect world, held back from the life we dream of living. He longs to raise us up to a high position, transform us and grant us His power, so He seeks us out, inviting each of us to dance with Him. And yet each of us needs someone to affirm our inherent value and encourage our transformation. We each need a Cinderella story of our own. Each persons relationship with God is such that He finds us in the ashes, held back from the life we dream of living. He seeks us, invites us to dance with Him, transform us by revealing the beauty hidden beneath the ashes, then coffers on us His power and position. Dancing in the arms of God is a relationship between us and God that is based on love and mutual respect. The two of us communicate in a close, intimate setting. He holds us, but His embrace is the embrace of a lover, not the restraint of an oppressor. As partners in this dance, God leads, and we let Him, moving with the flow of His leading. We are not enveloped in God, losing our identity as a unique person; we are who we are, retaining our freedom and individuality at every turn. God has chosen each one of us. We may feel like love just doesn't seem to work for us. We may wonder if we are doing something wrong. Perhaps we have problems loving because we are disconnected from the source of true love. The apostle John wrote: "Dear friends, lt us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. ... But anyone who does not love does not know God - for God is love" (1 John 4:7-8). Jesus said: "Iam giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each ohter" (John 13:34). Trying to love without first receiving God's love is like trying to water something with a hose that's disconnected from the facet. When we receive God's unconditional love, we can begin to love ourselves. We are then told to love others as we love ourselves and as Jesus has loved us. There is a boundless reservoir of love available to us: but without receiving the love of God in Christ, we will quickly run dry. Jesus is waiting for us to poen our heart and recieve His love. He said: "Look! Here I stand at the door and knowck. If you hear me calling and open the door, I wll come in, and we will share a meal as freinds" (Revelation 3:20 NLT). Love is waiting. Thank you for sharing how God is leading you into the ministry as described on your web pages. Thank you for allowing me to see how God is working in India threw men like you. Thank you for doing what Jesus told us all to do. Jeremiah 29:11 (New Living Translation) 11For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." What comfort this verse offers! In our despair, we must remember that God has a special plan for each of us; He wants to bless us. Our challenge is to act on that knowledge. In recovery and significant life changing experiences we are to pray for knowledge of God's will and the power to carry it out. Our recovery is an important part of God's will for us. We can begin the process by recognizing how helpless we are against our dependency and entrusting our life into God's powerful yet loving hands. Thank you for spreading the Gospel to all parts of the world as Jesus instructed all of us to do. Thank you for touching the lives of people who have never even heard about Jesus even once yet. God has drafted me to stay in Jerusalem (at home) so that God and His precious Son might touch the lives of those who have already heard about Him, but not yet been willing to give their life over to Him. As I desire to be a servant of God and a disciple of Christ Jesus, He has led me to act on His behalf to start the Waikiki Beach Outreach Ministry several years ago. 99. Dear Everyone I Know, God has put an almost impossible dream in my heart Greetings in the name of Christ Jesus. As I am reveiwing my day, I was studying Gods Word when something inside led me to begin writing. The words below reflect a clarification of the plan that I believe God has put into my heart. God's hand is on my life, I feel like an ordinary person with an extraordinary goal. My God-given dream is way too big for my abilities alone. Too big for my budget. Too big for my facilities. Too big to be humanly possible without significant help. I know from a lifetime of experience that nothing is too big for God. I know the frustrations and triumphs I'll experience in my spiritual journey. I know certain issues I need to pursue. These are some of the areas that others might be able to assist me to do for Gods glory: I have found my unique calling for ministry is presently with the leadership and growth of the Waikiki Beach Outreach Ministry. God inspired me to start it when I was homeless with no resources and now He has provided me with a small pension so I can continue His work. I have been operating out of my apartment with a roommate, but we are storing too much food and clothes here and must move to a bigger place soon, but we cannot do it without added income or support. The whole apartment is an office and kitchen and storage place to take care of the needs of others. Some of the visions God has planted in my heart includes the management of three residential facilities, a commercial facility, an office building, and a warehouse. It suggests that I will be helping to provide shelter and jobs for financially insecure citizens that society cant seem to help. I have determined the worldly gifts God has allowed me to experience in life will be used to build this, or other, ministries. They include the skills in entrepreneurship, project management, engineering, construction, staffing, computers, and motivational speaking. I have determine the spiritual gifts I have been given deal with helping the homeless and poor with food, drink, clothing, shelter, healing prayer and care, legal assistance, jobs, and other concerns as God shows me is appropriate. I need to develop my full God-given potential and learn all I can about sharing the Good News by attending colleges and work toward a PhD in ministry, theology, deity, or something in the spiritual realm. I will also read and study the Bible daily. As others are inspired, we will have Bible studies for all who desire to increase their knowledge or to hear the voice of God that is intended for them. I already have 4 college degrees and completing another bachelors in church ministry at this time. I expect to attend a college for a masters by September 2005 or before. I am empowering the visions God has shown me through effective actions by starting to provide love, food, drinks, clothing, hygiene products, spiritual services, intercessory prayer, fellowship and sharing the Good News, reading Scriptures, providing Bibles and other items as requested to the homeless and poor who live and work on Waikiki Beach. I am laying the foundation to focus attention on the way Hawaii treats the homeless so that the society will allow the civil rights of the homeless and poor to be achieved with peace in accordance with Gods will. The law of the land requires equal rights, not somewhat equal rights. We are speaking in many televised meetings, churches, on the streets, writing letters to the governor, senators, congressmen, mayor, and anyone else who might make a difference. I will pursue sharing an office with another organization and become affiliated with another tax exempt non-profit organization so purchase of food from the Food Bank is possible, so writing and submitting of grants may be considered, so that research into properties may be pursued, so reorganization to a 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporations might be approved, and so the image of the organization might be improved. I will pursue the possibilities to use or manage a kitchen and storage facility as needed. This may develop into the building or modifications of existing structures that will also provide a meeting place for the helpers, homeless, poor, and whoever God brings into the ministry. I will encourage others to help provide whatever resources are necessary. I will encourage and build up the reliable people who God has put under my authority to actualize the visions as others are also led to do in accordance with Gods will. I will manage my own attitudes and emotions to ensure peace within and sharing that peace with the _expression of joy to others. I will expect to prepare plans to teach others about computers, construction, and other job skills that will help people become self sufficient. I will live a balanced life that honors God in every way possible for me at that moment. Some of those ways will include acting in the way God shows me that glorifies Him. Others will see me the way God desires them to see me. I will step out in total obedience to His high calling for my life to make a powerful difference in my world, ready to do whatever I believe God shows me what I must do one day at a time and to give God my utmost. If any of these issues interest you, please let me know how we can make them possible. 102. Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, Greetings in the name of Christ Jesus. As I was studying God's Word, I encountered a site by Kenneth Hagin that focused my attention on the need for others to help a pastor. God placed pastors in the Church "for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ"(Eph. 4:12). But part of the pastor's mission as head of the local church is to fulfill the vision God gives him for his particular locality. Those of you who know me know that the Waikiki Beach Outreach Ministry has been assigned to me by God. You may be part of another church and not yet gotten involved. God bless you and your family. 102. Dear brothers and sisters, Loving Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today I did some research on the word Rhema. In essence, it is individual scripture which the spirit of the Lord brings to our remembrance for us to use in our time of need. It is an utterance, a word from God with His power as a statement, or may be a command or instruction or advice to each individual. Since He is a living God. God has led me to share the following to somebody who needs this. Gen 45:17 & 18, "Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Tell your brothers, 'Do this: Load your animals and return to the land of Canaan, and bring your father and your families back to me. I will give you the best of the land of Egypt and you can enjoy the fat of the land.' Today let us seeabout what Pharaoh was telling to Joseph that he will give the best of the land of Egypt and you can enjoy the fat of the land. When we read the prophet Jeremiah, he also confirms this statement that God can settle us in this world in Good places by helping us to by the land as in Jer 32:44,"Fields will be bought for silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed and witnessed in the territory of Benjamin, in the villages around Jerusalem, in the towns of Judah and in the towns of the hill country, of the western foothills and of the Negev, because I will restore their fortunes, declares the LORD." First of all, let us try to understand this that God has a purpose on every ones life. Whomsoever follows Him sincerely He will definitely bless them. Joseph was a chosen vessel by God to accomplish certain Gods plan. God chose Joseph when he was so young and had shown him many things through dreams about the future that what all going to happen. Joseph also knew God has a purpose in his life and He is with him. God was with Joseph in all his activities and made him to prosper in all his deeds. Secondly, In the same way God has a plan in our life too. If we are so keen to follow him he will be with us and make us to prosper in life. So let us obey like Joseph in our life. Since Joseph surrendered his life totally he got the blessing of God in his life and in the lives of his family members. He could support his family even when there was a famine It was not an accident; but God had already planned it. Thirdly, God will help you to see the dreams get fulfilled one day. Joseph himself realized when he saw his brothers again when they came to take grains in Egypt. His brothers bowed down themselves before him; Joseph could recognize them all very well he remembered his dreams God shown him at the age of seventeen. Fourthly, God will always give the best things to His children. God helped Joseph to get favour in the eyes of Pharaoh he gave all the transportation and he promised he would give the best land to Josephs family as we read in the above verse. Fifthly, God will uplift us and our families. If God wants to uplift a man nothing can stop it. When God opens a door no body on this earth has the power to close it. He will surely open any shut door and bless a person. But are we willingly doing the will of God in our life? Are we seeking his kingdom first in our life? Do we follow all his commandments in our life? God expects only this to us. If so he will surely bless us and uplift us in our life. 1 Pet 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Sixthly, let us forgive one another and accept our brothers as they are as in Gen 45:4, 7 Then Joseph said to his brothers, "Come close to me."When they had done so, he said, "I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt!" Seventhly, Give the Lord the credit for all the success Gen 45:8,"But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance."So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt. May the Lord help each one of us to get these blessings in our lives as we follow our Lord faithfully. 104. Dear Laura (and Everyone Else I Know), Greetings in the name of Christ Jesus. Thank you for your email. It is always such a pleasure to here from you and the message from God that I need to hear. Thank you for taking the time to share God's Word that He wants me to hear today. I am placing Scriptures and commentary within the text of your email to me as God is showing me what all this means and how I am to respond to you and others who might read this letter. Micah 1:3-5 (New Living Translation) 3Look! The LORD is coming! He leaves his throne in heaven and comes to earth, walking on the high places. 4They melt beneath his feet and flow into the valleys like wax in a fire, like water pouring down a hill. 5And why is this happening? Because of the sins and rebellion of Israel and Judah. Who is to blame for Israel's rebellion? Samaria, its capital city! Where is the center of idolatry in Judah? In Jerusalem, its capital! God announced the coming of a sudden and intense judgment on His people, who had refused to trust and obey Him. They had rebelled and sought help from powerless idols. God showed them how useless their idol worship was by allowing them to suffer the consequences of seeking help from sources that could not deliver. Our addiction may be an idol that we call upon to escape our pain - pain that only God can truly heal. We may make recovery fads our idols and expect them to lead us to an easy recovery. If we pursue help from idols, however, we will only be disappointed. Only God has the power to help us persevere in the process of recovery. The earth is called upon, with all that are therein, to hear the prophet. God's holy temple will not protect false professors. Neither men of high degree, as the mountains, nor men of low degree, as the valleys, can secure themselves or the land from the judgments of God. If sin be found in God's people he will not spare them; and their sins are most provoking to him, for they are most reproaching. When we feel the smart of sin, it behooves us to seek what is the sin we smart for. Persons and places most exalted, are most exposed to spiritual diseases. The vices of leaders and rulers shall be surely and sorely punished. The punishment answers the sin. What they gave to idols, never shall prosper, nor do them any good. What is got by one lust, is wasted on another. THE BIBLE says that GOD makes the waves rage,,,,,, Your anger lies heavy on me; wave after wave engulfs me. In this verse, the psalmist felt that God's anger was heavily upon him. It is important to remember that God allows us to stumble and fall, giving us opportunities to learn personally about the consequences of sin. But we should also remember that God does not cause us to fall. Natural consequences should be expected when we sin. If we are suffering because of our sins and failures, we should use the opportunity to learn from the past and turn to God. And how terrible it will be for you Philistines [Hebrew Kerethites.] who live along the coast and in the land of Canaan, for this judgment is against you, too! The LORD will destroy you until not one of you is left. Judgments upon other nations. Zephaniah listed the nations that had influenced Judah in its idolatrous practices. God would judge these nations, and they would lose their corrupting influence. God gives us great potential to influence others for good, but we often end up leading others in the wrong direction. Taking responsibility for those we have led astray in some way is part of our moral inventory. Maybe we have led our children astray, or perhaps friends or co-workers. Part of making amends is doing what we can to get those people back on the right track. Those are really in a woeful condition who have the word of the Lord against them, for no word of His shall fall to the ground. God will restore his people to their rights, though long kept from them. It has been the common lot of God's people, in all ages, to be reproached and reviled. God shall be worshipped, not only by all Israel, and the strangers who join them, but by the heathen. Remote nations must be reckoned with for the wrongs done to God's people. The sufferings of the insolent and haughty in prosperity, are un-pitied and unlamented. But all the desolations of flourishing nations will make way for the overturning Satan's kingdom. Let us improve our advantages, and expect the performance of every promise, praying that our Father's name may be hallowed every where, over all the earth. Think of all the ancient religious practices, the witchcraft involved in these lands, etc,,,,,,,,,,,,, Wichcraft? I think the Scriptures says it all without commentary: "Never eat meat that has not been drained of its blood." Do not practice fortune-telling or witchcraft. "For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. [Or never make your son or daughter pass through the fire.] And do not let your people practice fortune-telling or sorcery, or allow them to interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft," "Rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you from being king." King Joram demanded, "Do you come in peace, Jehu?" Jehu replied, "How can there be peace as long as the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother, Jezebel, are all around us?" Manasseh even sacrificed his own sons in the fire [Or even made his sons pass through the fire.] in the valley of the son of Hinnom. He practiced sorcery, divination, and witchcraft, and he consulted with mediums and psychics. He did much that was evil in the LORD's sight, arousing his anger. Well, those two things will come upon you in a moment: widowhood and the loss of your children. Yes, these calamities will come upon you, despite all your witchcraft and magic. I will put an end to all witchcraft; there will be no more fortune-tellers to consult. And they did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or their immorality or their thefts. "But cowards who turn away from me, and unbelievers, and the corrupt, and murderers, and the immoral, and those who practice witchcraft, and idol worshipers, and all liars--their doom is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death." All those GENERATIONS of denying GOD & HIS WORD,,,,,,, Do not worship the gods of these other nations or serve them in any way, and never follow their evil example. Instead, you must utterly conquer them and break down their shameful idols. Even though the nations around us worship idols, we will follow the LORD our God forever and ever. But of all the bad,,,,, GOD WILL MAKE GOOD OF IT ! "On that day I will gather you together and bring you home again. I will give you a good name, a name of distinction among all the nations of the earth. They will praise you as I restore your fortunes before their very eyes. I, the LORD, have spoken!" I HAVE SAID FOR YEARS But as surely as the LORD your God has given you the good things he promised, he will also bring disaster on you if you disobey him. He will completely wipe you out from this good land he has given you. Don't be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible anger of God comes upon all those who disobey him. Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of judgment, and this shows that his love has not been perfected in us. Come and show me your mercy, as you do for all who love your name. THE BIBLE says "The wicked walk into a net. They fall into a pit that's been dug in the path." I made the nations shake with fear at the sound of its fall, for I sent it down to the grave with all the others like it. And all the other proud trees of Eden, the most beautiful and the best of Lebanon, the ones whose roots went deep into the water, were relieved to find it there with them in the pit. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the message God has planted in your hearts, for it is strong enough to save your souls. Sinners are brought to see the reality of Divine things, and to have some knowledge of them. To be converted, and truly turned from sin to Christ, as their Happiness and Portion. God will heal them, will justify and sanctify them; will pardon their sins, which are as bleeding wounds, and mortify their corruptions, which are as lurking diseases. See the power of the world in smothering convictions, from regard to the applause or censure of men. Love of the praise of men, as a by-end in that which is good, will make a man a hypocrite when religion is in fashion, and credit is to be got by it; and love of the praise of men, as a base principle in that which is evil, will make a man an apostate, when religion is in disgrace, and credit is to be lost for it. I THANK YOU FATHER GOD for breaking us of our disobidance, and not passing down to our younger generations the mistakes of my elders, and myself any longer........ The power struggle between the religious establishment and the apostles is instructive for recovery. We may have already faced opposition. People may have tried to stand in our way as we grew in our relationship with God or participated in recovery activities. They may have sought to impose their will on us, hindering us from following Gods will. Recovery must be centered around God and His will for us; then nothing can stop our progress. The key is to obey God rather than other people. The apostles imprisoned, but set free by an angel.There is no prison so dark, so strong, but God can visit his people in it, and, if he pleases, fetch them out. Recoveries from sickness, releases out of trouble, are granted, not that we may enjoy the comforts of life, but that God may be honoured with the services of our life. It is not for the preachers of Christ's gospel to retire into corners, as long as they can have any opportunity of preaching in the great congregation. They must preach to the lowest, whose souls are as precious to Christ as the souls of the greatest. Speak to all, for all are concerned. Speak as those who resolve to stand to it, to live and die by it. Speak all the words of this heavenly, divine life, in comparison with which the present earthly life does not deserve the name. These words of life, which the Holy Ghost puts into your mouth. The words of the gospel are the words of life; words whereby we may be saved. How wretched are those who are vexed at the success of the gospel! They cannot but see that the word and power of the Lord are against them; and they tremble for the consequences, yet they will go on. For the wrath of GOD is REVEALED FROM HEAVEN AGAINST ALL UNGODLINESS and UNRIGHTEOUSNESS OF MEN, who HOLD THE TRUTH IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS; Coming to Believe Saying that we "came to believe" suggests a process. Belief is the result of consideration, doubt, reasoning, and concluding. The ability to form beliefs is part of what it means to be made in Gods image. It involves emotion and logic. It leads to action. What, then, is the process that leads us to solid belief and changes our life? We start with our own experiences, and we see what doesnt work. Looking at the condition of our life, we realize that we dont have enough power to overcome our dependency. We try with all our might, but to no avail. When we are quiet enough to listen, hear that still, small voice inside us, "There is a God, and He is extremely powerful." The apostle Paul said it this way: "For the truth about God is known to all people instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts" (Romans 1:19). Recognizing our internal weaknesses is the first step toward recovery. When we look beyond ourselves, we see that there are others who have struggled with an addiction and recovered. We know that they, too, were unable to heal themselves, yet they now live free of addictive behaviors. We conclude that there must be a greater Power that helped them. Since we can see the similarities between their struggles and our own, we come to believe that our powerful God can restore us to sanity. This is where many people are when they get to Step Two, and its a good place to be on the way to recovery. WHO CHANGED THE TRUTH OF GOD INTO A LIE, and worshipped and served the creature more than THE CREATOR, WHO IS BLESSED FOR EVER. AMEN The gospel way of justification by faith, for Jews and Gentiles.In these verses the apostle opens the design of the whole epistle, in which he brings forward a charge of sinfulness against all flesh; declares the only method of deliverance from condemnation, by faith in the mercy of God, through Jesus Christ; and then builds upon it purity of heart, grateful obedience, and earnest desires to improve in all those Christian graces and tempers, which nothing but a lively faith in Christ can bring forth. God is a just and holy God, and we are guilty sinners. It is necessary that we have a righteousness to appear in before him: there is such a righteousness brought in by the Messiah, and made known in the gospel; a gracious method of acceptance, notwithstanding the guilt of our sins. It is the righteousness of Christ, who is God, coming from a satisfaction of infinite value. Faith is all in all, both in the beginning and progress of Christian life. It is not from faith to works, as if faith put us into a justified state, and then works kept us in it; but it is all along from faith to faith; it is faith pressing forward, and gaining the victory over unbelief. That they might set their HOPE IN GOD, and NOT FORGET THE WORKS OF GOD, but keep the commandments; In its quest for national recovery, Judah sought help form Egypt, not from God. God warned Judahs leaders that their plan would only bring defeat because Egypt couldnt save them. God alone had the power to deliver them. Our recovery program should include God. When we put our trust in people or new fad programs, we will fail. To attempt anything apart from God will only lead to failure and increased suffering. Gods judgment of Edom reminds us that rejecting God and His program brings disaster. It may mean physical destruction (such as the deterioration of Indonesia or of our own health), emotional destruction, and/or eternal destruction after we die. Accepting God and His plan for our life will ensure that we finish life on the right path and we will enjoy Gods presence throughout eternity. God bless you and your family.
